We offer various treatments for your family’s Dental needs
We love seeing families as patients! The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends your child has their first dental visit when their first tooth erupts or by their first birthday. We recommend you bring your child to your dental appointments so that they become familiar with our office and see that coming to the dentist can be fun! We are always happy to attempt any restorative needs children may have, such as filling cavities, but sometimes we find it necessary to refer to our talented local pediatric dentists for more complex work.
We truly believe the best type of dentistry is preventive dentistry. This means coming in to see us for routine dental cleanings and exams at an interval we believe is best suited for you. At these visits, we will review your medical history, take radiographs as indicated and evaluate the health of your teeth, gums, mouth, jaw joint (TMJ) and muscles. Seeing you at regular intervals allows us to detect any changes in a timely manner so that simple dental needs do not become complex. Regular cleanings help prevent both gum disease and tooth decay. When cavities are detected early, we may recommend application of a peptide known as Curodont, which actually can actually stop the disease progression. It allows your tooth to regenerate enamel – how cool is that?!
Sometimes, patients require scaling and root planing, otherwise known as a “deep cleaning”. At these appointments, local anesthetic is used to allow our hygienists to clean your teeth beneath the level of the gingiva, or “gums”. These deep cleanings will prevent more complex scenarios which could potentially lead to tooth loss. Our goal is for our patients to keep their teeth for a lifetime – this service helps us achieve that goal when indicated.
Fillings
When a tooth has decay and it causes a cavity, the most common treatment is to remove the decay and fill it with restorative dental material – thus the common name of “filling”. The material of choice in our office is tooth colored filling material called composite.
Crowns
Crowns, sometimes known as “caps”, are indicated when a tooth requires more protection than a filling will provide. Crowns provide greater longevity than large fillings. They may be recommended when there is a large cavity, a previous root canal, or large cracks are detected within the tooth. Crowns take two visits at our office, and can usually be completed in a matter of weeks.
Replacement of Missing Teeth — Bridges and Implants
A bridge is a treatment option to replace a missing tooth or teeth. This requires shaping of the adjacent teeth to allow support for the new tooth in the space. Once cemented, it will appear as individual crowns, even though it is one unit. Bridges can generally be completed in a matter of weeks.
Teeth Whitening
The most efficient way to whiten and brighten your smile is with our in office whitening treatment. Many patients recall having tooth sensitivity to in office whitening products years ago, but rest assured the materials have evolved greatly and incorporate desensitizers.
An alternative to in office whitening is bleach strips or trays, both of which are available to purchase through our office. These are also a good way to maintain the results of in office whitening.
Veneers
Veneers are porcelain coverings that fit over the front surface of your teeth. They may be indicated when your teeth have chips in them, staining, or are misshapen. Minimal removal of tooth structure is required to allow for the thin layer of porcelain. If you are wanting to significantly enhance your smile, veneers will be the best solution to allow a highly esthetic outcome.
A dental implant is a great option to replace a missing tooth or teeth. Once healing is complete for approximately 4-6 months after extraction, a titanium dental implant can be placed into the site of the missing tooth. This implant will either be placed by Dr. Maggie or by a local specialist depending on the case. This implant then integrates into your bone over another 4-6 month healing period. Once fully healed, we can then restore the implant with an abutment and crown.
Clear aligner therapy is a discreet way to align your teeth and improve your bite. When teeth are rotated or crooked, they are very hard to keep clean and are prone to collecting plaque or calculus. Not only are straight teeth pretty, more importantly they’re healthy! There are many clear aligners on the market, and we are proud to be Invisalign providers.
Botulinum A Toxin, more commonly known by the brand name Botox, is a safe and effective adjunct therapy to treating TMJ and orofacial pain. Many of us hold tension in our jaws and neck, or clench and grind our teeth. Botox can help to relax these muscles and disrupt the hyperfunction cycle. It can also be used to improve gummy smiles by decreasing the mobility of the upper lip.
An occlusal appliance, otherwise known as bite guard or night guard, is worn at night and creates a barrier between your upper and lower teeth. This prevents wear of your teeth in the evening and also helps to decrease the muscle force that contributes to tooth wear during the day time. If left untreated, teeth grinding can have severe consequences on the longevity of your teeth. Occlusal appliances are a simple way to prevent these conditions from progressing.
Sometimes tooth wear can be a sign of an airway disorder such as sleep apnea; we may refer you to your primary care physician for a sleep study if we see other contributing factors.
In addition to Botox and occlusal appliances, we may recommend physical therapy to help relieve muscle pains and restore harmony of the muscles, jaw joint and teeth.
Itero scanner
Say goodbye to those gooey impressions! We love using our iTero digital scanner to fabricate crowns, invisalign aligners, and occlusal guards! We take a digital impression, the file is then sent to a lab where CAD-CAM software and 3D printing is utilized.
CBCT 3D imaging
Our state of the art cone beam CT unit allows us to evaluate the jaw bones and teeth in a 3D image. This can be crucial for helping us diagnose pathology and infections of the jaws and teeth. Worried about radiation? Our Planmeca unit allows for ultra low dose radiation to keep exposure at an absolute minimum.

Alternative approaches to replacing missing teeth are removable partial dentures and complete dentures. These are prosthetic appliances that come in and out of your mouth. They are predominantly made with acrylic, and partial dentures often have a metal base.
